TJ Waste has secured the waste management contract for Victorious Festival for the eighth year, which is testament to the consistently high level of customer service we provide. This year’s festival will take place on Southsea Common from 23-25 August 2024.
The festival houses a number of stages including Common Stage, Castle Stage, Seaside Stage and Acoustic Stage, as well as the World Music Village and Comedy Tent, each hosting live music and entertainment throughout the day and evening. There is also a kids’ arena, a premium enclosure and many other attractions to explore!
We will be supplying around 400 wheelie bins for use across the entire festival site. We’ll deliver the bins in the week leading up to the start of the festival to ensure they’re in place ready for kick-off on Friday. In the early hours of Saturday and Sunday, a team from TJ will go onsite to empty all the bins in preparation for the day’s festivities. A team will be onsite on each of the three days to continually empty the bins to ensure cleanliness and efficiency.
There is an offsite campsite at Farlington Fields for those attending the whole weekend. We will also be responsible for the waste management on the campsite, providing wheelie bins for general waste and recyclables for campers to use. We will also play an integral part in clearing the site at the end of the festival, ensuring all refuse is collected and that the bins are removed within 24 hours of the site being vacated.
We’ll provide a number of HGVs to transport and empty the wheelie bins and collect recycling which is segregated on site. All the waste will be taken back to TJ’s Tipner Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) for sorting to ensure that all unsegregated recyclables are extracted and recycled. We also have three other MRFs at Southampton, another in Portsmouth and at Yapton.
We’re dedicated to diverting waste from landfill and endeavour to recycle up to 100% of the waste we handle. We have established recycling routes for a wide range of materials and any materials that cannot be reused or recycled are directed down the Energy from Waste (EfW) path wherever possible.
We process all materials in line with WRAP (Waste and Resources Action Programme) protocol. WRAP’s mission is to accelerate the move to a sustainable, resource-efficient economy by re-inventing how we design, produce and sell products, re-thinking how we use and consume products, and re-defining what is possible through reuse and recycling.
TJ Waste’s Commercial Director, Luke Haskell said: “We’re thrilled to continue our partnership with Victorious for another year and we’re gearing up to provide the excellent waste management service they’ve come to expect from us. It’s great to be part of one of the biggest and most popular festivals in the south; our whole team works hard to ensure an exceptional service is delivered throughout the event.”
This year’s Victorious line-up includes Fatboy Slim and Snow Patrol on Friday; Jamie T, Courteeners and Pixie on Saturday; and Biffy Clyro, Becky Hill and Wet Leg on Sunday.
