TJ Waste secures SafeContractor status for second year running

TJ Waste has been awarded SafeContractor accreditation for the second year running after successfully passing the audit carried out by the awarding body Alcumus SafeContractor.

The award is valid for a year and can be renewed annually providing the yearly audit is passed. The audit process is completed via an online portal. TJ’s Head of Compliance, Jack MacFarlane supplied various documentation such as  insurance certificates, Health & Safety policy documents, LOLER certificates, electrical safety certificates and risk assessments etc to demonstrate their suitability for the status.

Jack provided evidence of accident statistics and relevant employee H&S qualifications such as WAMITAB’s & NCRQ certificates to prove the competence levels of employees. He also outlined TJ’s processes and procedures for H&S management, seeking competent H&S advice, employee training and visitor inductions across all TJ sites.

Jack said:

“Retaining this prestigious status for a second year is testament to TJ’s high levels of health and safety competence as well as the commitment of our staff throughout the company to ensure these high standards are continually met and maintained. The past 18 months have tested companies’ health and safety standards more than ever before, so the fact TJ has proved it is a ‘Safecontractor’ despite these additional challenges will give existing clients and potential new customers peace of mind about the exceptional services we provide.”

Alcumus SafeContractor aims to build a better working world for everyone, one that’s safer, healthier and stronger. SafeContractor delivers a tailored health and safety accreditation that allows contractors to showcase their capabilities to potential customers.

Holding SafeContractor status reassures customers that TJ Waste has the relevant health and safety paperwork in place to meet industry standards. Being accredited also opens up more business opportunities to TJ as some companies will only deal with those that hold the accreditation.

TJ originally applied for the accreditation last year on suggestion of one of their clients. Havant Borough Council works with Norse South East, a contract supplier of grounds maintenance, trade waste and street cleansing services to the private and public sectors. Norse carry out numerous waste and landscaping services for Havant Borough Council and use TJ’s facilities for the disposal of the waste.

TJ Waste & Recycling General Manager, Luke Haskell said:

“We’re thrilled to have secured this status for another year; it really does demonstrate our commitment to health and safety best practice, which is always one of our top priorities.”
