TJ support local residents association

TJ has sponsored a local residents association to provide the funds for the printing of their bi-annual newsletter, keeping the community informed about the news from around the neighbourhood.

Netley View is a 550-home estate that borders TJ’s Hythe Quarry in Southampton. Since the Quarry became operational in 2018, relations between TJ and the Netley View Residents Association have developed as TJ endeavour to keep the residents happy and content with the work TJ carry out there.

TJ have invested in various measures to ensure that the residents’ surroundings are not compromised in any way. TJ installed a new dust suppression system at the quarry earlier in the year to provide protection to the surrounding environment and residential areas. This is a permanent water-based atomiser along the fence line, which is fed by a high pressure pump and captures dust particles to prevent them from polluting the surrounding area.

TJ are very mindful of their neighbours and always endeavour to do all they can to ensure their operations have minimal impact on them. TJ hold regular Liaison Panel Meetings with the residents association so that any issues can be discussed and addressed.

Netley View Residents Association is currently made up of seven local people who are committed to helping local residents and representing their views, including working with local authorities, agencies and others to improve the Estate.

Hythe Quarry is where TJ’s supply of sand and gravel is quarried and supplied to businesses locally as well as further afield. The sand had many uses including building and construction (for blinding, bedding, general fill, mortar and plastering), cattle bedding, bunkers on golf courses and school sand pits.
