TJ sponsors Portsmouth Marathon for fourth year

TJ are pleased to be sponsoring the Portsmouth Coastal Waterside Marathon 2021 for the fourth year. We will be providing overall support for the event as well as supplying much-needed waste management services on the day free of charge.

The event, which will take place on Sunday 19 December has been running for over 10 years and also offers a Scrooge 10k, Festive Half Marathon and the 50k Ultra for those wanting to push themselves a bit further.

One of TJ’s vans will be positioned along the route to distribute much-needed drinks and refreshments to runners as they pass.

We will also provide a number of eurobins, which will be placed along the route to ensure that any waste generated throughout the event is captured, minimising littering and pollution. The bins  will be delivered to the site the day before the event to ensure that they are located in the optimal positions ahead of time.

A TJ van and driver will also be present to empty the bins, with the waste will be transported back to TJ’s Materials Recovery Facility in Tipner for sorting and recycling. As much as possible will be recycled or reused in line with our policy to divert as much as possible from landfill.

We have established recycling routes for a wide range of materials from the standard card, paper, metal and plastic bottles, to the more tricky materials such as rubble, hard plastics and mattresses. Any materials that cannot be reused or recycled are directed down the Energy from Waste (EfW) path wherever possible.

We process all materials in line with WRAP (Waste and Resources Action Programme) protocol. WRAP’s mission is to accelerate the move to a sustainable, resource-efficient economy by re-inventing how we design, produce and sell products, re-thinking how we use and consume products, and re-defining what is possible through reuse and recycling.

The marathon route will start at South Parade Pier, going to the end of the Hayling Billy Line and back. It’s a unique multi-terrain marathon with fantastic views across Langstone Harbour and a great way for runners to celebrate the start of the festive season!

Believe and Achieve Events Ltd are proud to organise and run this event to raise money for the Portsmouth RNLI, which is the lifeboat station that provides search and rescue for the eastern Solent and has been doing so since 1965.

Believe and Achieve offer one-to-one and group personal training sessions at your home or in the open air. Ideal for those looking to lose or manage weight, improve their fitness, tone up or train for a particular event such as a marathon. They also deliver effective motivational and supportive life coaching.

The event will kick off at 8am with the start of the 50k Ultra, followed by the Marathon, the Half Marathon and the 10k. Medals will be presented to all finishers and category winners will receive trophies.
