TJ has partnered with ITV’s hit show Love your Garden to provide vital services to some of the projects undertaken on the programme.

The show’s theme revolves around renowned gardener and broadcaster Alan Titchmarsh, who surprises deserving people across Britain with transformations to their outdoor living spaces. Alan and his team of experts nurture neglected grounds and turn them into stunning gardens whilst throwing in tips and advice for green-fingered viewers.

Skips were provided by TJ waste for episode 1, series 8, which was aired last summer and featured 90-year-old Betty from Fareham, an dedicated fundraiser and volunteer. Her last fund-raising adventure in 2016 saw her abseil down the Spinnaker Tower, an impressive achievement for anyone, let alone a lady in her late 80’s.

Betty’s garden was a concrete jungle of grey paving slabs, with no colour to entice her failing eyesight and steeply terraced making it difficult for her to manoeuvre around.

The show’s team, led by Alan, ripped out Betty’s many paving slabs, which were then disposed of in TJ’s skips and taken away for repurposing. TJ supplied the skips free of charge.

Alan and his team – David Domoney, Frances Tophill and Katie Rushworth revamped Betty’s garden in just a few days, turning it into an accessible, colourful haven for her to enjoy.

The back door leads out onto a modern patio area with a sunken seating area that Betty can reach within just a few steps. The seating area is surrounded by inspiring flowers and features comfortable cushions. There is also a shaded area with table and chairs for those hot, sunny days. The garden continues with a gently graded walkway up to an area housing a pretty summerhouse. The design is completed with sculptures old and new, rustic sleepers surrounding the flowerbeds and a small area of low maintenance artificial lawn.
