TJ Waste has purchased and donated £1,500-worth of litter pickers and bin hoops to Southampton City Council (SCC) for use at community events. Keeping our communities clean during events such as these is essential for the good of the environment and the continued success of the events.

Report fly tipping incidents to us – we can help!
TJ Waste is dedicated to helping in the fight against fly tipping. It’s something we feel so strongly about that we are inviting members of the public to report any fly-tipping incidents that they come across to us so that we can liaise with the local authority and help them resolve the issue.

It’s Global Recycling Day on 18 March, an annual event established in 2018 by the Global Recycling Foundation. It aims to celebrate the importance of recycling in order to preserve our primary resources and protect our planet.

2022: the year in review

Portsmouth Marathon – how are we involved?
TJ is the headline sponsor for the Portsmouth Coastal Waterside Marathon 2022, which is taking place on Sunday 18 December. This sponsorship involves many elements and in addition to that, we also have eight staff members actually running the event too!

Each year TJ gets involved in a range of fundraising activities for various charities. September saw TJ take part in Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, raising over £175 for this fantastic cause.

Customer Notification: Guidance Issued for PersistEnt Organic Pollutants
In August 2022, the Environment Agency issued a letter directly to local authorities advising on legal requirements [1] for the collection and disposal of upholstered domestic seating, due to the presence of Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) in both the textiles and foam found in this type of waste.
