Let TJ take care of your commercial waste management

TJ Waste specialises in commercial waste management. So if your business needs to address their waste management processes, TJ can help!

We can provide you with total site waste management, partial site waste management, a Site Waste Management Plan (SWMP) or even waste management for events. All businesses have a legal responsibility under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and other related legislation to safely contain and legally dispose of any waste produced from your business.

Commercial waste services

If you employ TJ to manage the disposal of your organisation’s waste, they can manage many waste streams, encompassing all of your waste or just some elements of it.

General waste

The size of your organisation and the amount of waste that is generated will determine what TJ supplies you with for your general waste. TJ has skips of all sizes, from 2 yard up to 35 yard. TJ can help you assess the size you need and when the skip is full, they will take it away, replacing it with an empty one. This can be done on a scheduled or ad hoc basis, to suit your company’s needs.

Recycling

TJ can also take away your recyclables, so it’s a good idea to separate them on site for ease. Recyclable materials include paper, cardboard, plastic bottles, cans and tins, aerosols, textiles and glass.

Confidential waste

All businesses generate documents that are confidential and need disposing of in the correct way. Our collection service gives you the ability to securely dispose of documentation, with a guaranteed certificate of destruction – it’s safe, secure and fast and helps you to fulfil your data responsibilities. We’ll provide you with 50-litre secure bags for you to fill with unwanted sensitive or confidential waste documents, then simply call us for collection and it’s all taken care of.

WEEE

WEEE encourages the collection, treatment, recycling and recovery of waste electrical and electronic equipment. TJ offers this service and can ensure that your WEEE goes to the right place.

Site Waste Management Plans

A Site Waste Management Plan (SWMP) outlines how resources will be managed and waste controlled throughout a construction project. It will cover:

  • Who will be responsible for resource management
  • What type of waste will be generated
  • How the waste will be managed
  • Which contractors will be used to ensure all waste is correctly disposed of or recycled
  • How the quantity of waste generated during the project will be measured

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs recommends that all construction projects have a SWMP to ensure the waste disposal is being legally done. Having a SWMP may also help you win business because you can use it to prove your environmental performance, which will in turn enhance your reputation.

We will work with you to come up with an SWMP that will work for your business as well as being manageable. We’ll provide you with templates to complete your plan and act as consultants to assist you and advise on best practice.

You’ll also have access to the reporting tool, which you will be able to access to gain an insight into the breakdown of all waste activity including how much of your waste was able to be recycled etc.

Waste management at events

TJ’s reputation precedes them and their name as a company that is proficient at dealing with the waste management of large events is growing. Last year TJ undertook the waste management for the Portsmouth Marathon, Great South Run, Oxfam’s Trailwalker event, Victorious, D-Day 75 and the Clanfield Challenge.

The process usually involves TJ supplying bins or skips or both, at points around the event site or route. For longer or larger events, TJ staff will empty bins and skips regularly to ensure cleanliness and efficiency. The waste is then taken back to one of TJ’s materials recovery facilities.

Where does the waste go?

All waste is taken back to TJ’s Materials Recovery Facilities. We have four of these dotted along the south coast, two in Portsmouth, one in Southampton and one in Yapton.

All the waste is sorted into categories to ensure that as much as possible is recycled or reused. TJ recycle up to 100% of the waste that comes through their doors, showing their commitment to diverting waste from landfill. TJ’s extensive knowledge of recycling centres in and outside of Hampshire helps make all this recycling possible.
