TJ secures HWRC rubble contract extension

TJ Waste has won an additional two-year contract to remove all the rubble and soil waste from 22 of the 26 Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) across Hampshire.

This contract extension has been awarded due to the exceptional service that we’ve provided throughout the initial three-year contract period. During this time, we’ve built up a strong partnership with the awarding organisation and we look forward to building on that further in the coming years.

We will continue to carry out ad hoc collections of heavy waste such as mixed construction and demolition waste (rubble, soil, concrete, ceramics and bricks) between Monday and Saturday as and when needed.

The HWRCs are located all over Hampshire from Andover in the north, over to Ringwood in the west, down to Gosport in the south and Fareham in the east.

This waste will be taken to our Butser Quarry, near Petersfield, where it will be utilised to make our recycled bulk fill aggregate, iBlend, which is invaluable to the construction industry.

The fact that we are utilising the unwanted rubble has environmental benefits that are twofold; not only is this waste being diverted from landfill, but it is also being used to make a much needed recycled aggregate, ensuring that the materials are reused and that alternative primary materials are conserved.

iBlend is a Type 1 recycled aggregate, designed to retain the functionality of its primary aggregate equivalents. It complies with the Department of Transport’s Specification for Highway Works, yet maintains the price position of a secondary/recycled aggregate.
