Waste Management specialist the TJ Group is expanding workplace recycling services across the South.

TJ's acquisition of Dove, based at Wickham, near Fareham, means it can now directly service Dove's 490 business clients on the M27 and A3 corridors in seamless transition.

Clients are mainly companies in a geographic triangle stretching from Bournemouth to the Wet, Southampton and Portsmouth in the South, Arundel to the East and Basingstoke in the North.

Through Dove, the TJ Group will also provide a confidential waste shredding service.

Dove was founded and operated by sole shareholder John Cauchi four years ago.  Dove's website will remain until the start of 2010, when it will be integrated into TJ's site.

Six other staff, as well as Dove's Materials Recycling Facility at Drokes Farm, Titchfield Lane, will now come under the wing of the TJ Group, which itself employs 110 people across four companies.

TJ Group director John Gosling said: "This is a strategic acquisition for TJ's, as it means we can, for the first time, provide a major recycling collection service for businesses across the central south coast.

"Dove has an excellent portfolio of clients and the transition of service providers has been seamless - the only difference the customers will notice is in the branding.

"The service, new under our name, will complement our waste and haulage services as we divert more and more material away from landfill."

TJ takes over Dove's role in walking customers through the whole recycling process, from advising on types of material that can be recycled to providing practical receptacles, confidential waste shredding and tailoring collection services to suit the requirements of each business.

Materials for recycling include aluminium cans, paper, cardboard, plastic, fluorescent tubes and obsolete IT equipment.

They will be sorted by TJ Waste & Recycling at one of their materials recycling facilities before being transported for reprocessing either in the UK or abroad.  All confidential waste is shredded in the UK.

Mr Gosling added: "More and more businesses across the south coast are setting individual targets for reducing their waste from the office or factory, which is great news for the environment.

"The days when workplace bins overflowed with recyclables, destined for landfill because nobody would take responsibility for separating waste, are increasingly deemed unacceptable for employees.

"It's also worth bearing in mind that, according to government figures, the cost of dealing with general and commercial waste typically accounts for 4% of a company's turnover.  Better waste management creates savings."

The acquisition follows a series of business wins for the TJ Group.

The company has just been appointed the waste and recycling supplier for both Portsmouth Football Club and Fasset-run Langstone Technology Park at Havant, which is one of the largest business parks on the south coast with 3,100 people working for 18 companies.

TJ's new clients through Dove include Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth, Portsmouth NHS Trust and the City of Portsmouth Boys' School and, in Southampton, the National Oceanography Centre, Marine Accident Investigation Branch and the University of Southampton.

Customers in Winchester include Hotel du Vin and Hampshire County Council's children's and adults services.

Other clients include professional services' companies such as Knight Frank, King Sturge, Lambert Smith Hampton, Coffin Mew, Biscoes, Grant Thornton, Balfour Beatty and Selwoods.
