Stacey Centre moves a step closer to their Community Kitchen with the help of TJ Waste & Recycling

The Stacey Centre in Copnor is working hard to convert disused changing rooms and showers into a community kitchen. The Centre hosts groups with learning and physical disabilities; patients recovering from strokes and groups of over 60 who are keeping active by playing table tennis, indoor boules. The Kitchen will also be used by these groups and also as a training venue for those needing to change to a healthier lifestyle and the Community Cycle Centre who are based at the Stacey Centre and bring bikes back to life for the community.

The Centre has already raised £13000 towards its target of £25,000 for the kitchen.  On Saturday 14th April TJ Waste and Recycling kindly donated a skip so that the management team and helpers from the Centre could clear the rooms that will be turned into the kitchen.

Councillor Darron Phillips, who is the vice chair of the Centre said. “The tremendous help given to us by TJ Waste & Recycling has helped us to make the dream of a Community Kitchen one step closer.”

Karen Cray, the Centre Administator was impressed by the amount of work done on the day.  “It has been a pleasure dealing with TJ Waste & Recycling, without their help we could not have made the progress we have today. I did not know that moving rubbish and filling a skip could be such good fun!”
